Like so many servicemen during the war, he may have been trained not to say too much. But what he does write is full of emotion: he misses her, he misses the baby she’s carrying, and he longs for the day he can finally touch her again.
He tells her, “The miles are getting closer.”
And maybe they were. But for now, they’re still writing across an ocean—holding their love together one letter at a time.
