On September 19, 1971, Sarah and Dick wrote from opposite sides of the world — she in San Antonio, he in Vietnam — and both still had their heads in the clouds, dreaming about their week together in Hawaii. Meanwhile, Dick compares breakfast to eggs Benedict and champagne, the same breakfast they’d shared on R&R just a week earlier. Their letters show how deeply they were still wrapped in the glow of that reunion, carried by a once-in-a-lifetime love
